A bit of history

What is Pilates with Machines?

Pilates with machines is a training method that combines strength, flexibility, and concentration using specific equipment designed by Joseph Pilates, such as the Reformer, the Tower, or the Chair. These machines allow you to work with adjustable springs and resistance, enabling precise, safe, and personalized movement.

It is based on principles such as breathing, control, alignment, and flow, achieving a balanced development of the body. Thanks to the use of the machines, it helps to strengthen the deep muscles, improve posture, increase mobility, and prevent injuries, offering a complete physical conditioning that connects body and mind.

Why choose Pilates with Machines

Pilates with machines, such as the Reformer, Cadillac, or Chair, takes your practice to another level. Unlike mat Pilates, the machines add controlled resistance, allowing for more precise, deep, and personalized training.

This system helps strengthen muscles, increasing their flexibility and improving overall health.

Greater support and control

The machines help maintain correct alignment and perform exercises with safer and more effective technique, especially useful for beginners or people in rehabilitation.

Low-impact training

Ideal for all ages and fitness levels, as it protects the joints while strengthening the muscles.

Faster results

By working with adjustable resistance, key muscles such as the abdomen, glutes, back, and legs are toned more quickly.

Improved posture and flexibility

The focus on control and elongation promotes an upright posture and greater body mobility.

Rehabilitation and injury prevention

Highly recommended by physiotherapists, Pilates with machines is an excellent tool for regaining mobility after an injury and preventing future muscle imbalances.

3 types of Pilates machines

Pilates with machines, such as the Reformer, Cadillac, or Chair, takes your practice to another level. Unlike mat Pilates, the machines add controlled resistance, allowing for more precise, deep, and personalized training.

The Reformer is one of the most representative pieces of equipment in the Pilates method, designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, and posture. It consists of a sliding platform called a “carriage,” which moves along a frame thanks to a system of springs, pulleys, and ropes. These elements allow the resistance to be adjusted according to the practitioner’s level and goals.

Unlike mat Pilates, the Reformer allows for a wide variety of exercises in different positions: lying down, sitting, standing, or even in motion. Thanks to its versatile design, it is ideal for both beginners and advanced athletes, and it is also used in physical rehabilitation.

Working on the Reformer strengthens the “core” (center of the body), improves body alignment, and promotes control of movement, all with low joint impact. In addition, it offers a fluid, dynamic, and highly effective training experience.

Thanks to its unique design, the tower provides support and adjustable resistance, making it an ideal tool for both rehabilitation and high-performance training. It is perfect for working on spinal mobility, core stabilization, postural alignment, and muscle elongation, all with great precision and safety.

The Pilates Chair, also known as the Wunda Chair, is a compact and versatile piece of equipment originally designed by Joseph Pilates. Although it may seem simple at first glance, it is a powerful tool that allows for a wide variety of exercises focused on strengthening, balance, and body stability.

The Pilates Chair challenges body control in seated, standing, or lying positions, and is ideal for both beginners and advanced practitioners. Its benefits include strengthening the abdominal muscles, training balance and coordination, increasing functional strength, and allowing for a great variety of exercises—making the practice both fun and challenging.

FAQs

Here we answer the most common questions about our classes, payments, bookings, and how the studio works. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to contact us. We’re here to help!

I benefit from a better price for my classes. As long as there is availability, I can get an automatic reservation; that spot will not be taken from me, and I don’t have to worry about booking week by week.

I can organize my schedule and know exactly what time and day my classes are.

What should I know when choosing this payment option?

  • The classes I have paid for must be taken during that month.
  • Classes are paid in advance.
  • The payment options are those mentioned above. If none of them fits my schedule, it is better to pay per class, forfeiting the right to have an automatic reservation.

In that case, it’s better to pay per single class, as the monthly payment requires you to take all the classes. Please note: there is no option for partial payment of the fee.

We’re here to help! Feel free to write to us or talk to us at the studio.

Testimonials

Real opinions from people who have attended Joy Pilates.

Comencé a hacer pilates hace 14 años.

I have had many Pilates teachers over the past 15 years and can honestly say that Paola is the most conscientious and dedicated teacher that I have had the pleasure of meeting and taking classes with. The classes are never the same and no matter what level you are, she always manages to push and encourage you to achieve the most you can in every single class! The atmosphere and energy at Joy Pilates is also very welcoming and positive and I feel very lucky to have found such a great teacher in Mallorca!
